  melting pot: a country, locality, or situation in which a blending of races, peoples, or cultures is taking place.

a “garden-salad” culture is one made up of many different people who retain their unique cultural identity.

 

4.       Britain today is one of the most culturally diverse countries in the world. Look on the internet and find out which nationalities make up the “ethnic minority population of over 4 million”.

5.       Australia is another of the most culturally diverse countries in the world.  The University of Melbourne has a policy on Cultural Diversity. Read the two paragraphs and summarize them in your own words.

 

 The University of Melbourne welcomes and encourages and celebrates the many different cultures found on its campus, and wants all of the students to recognize what an opportunity there is for them to learn and value all of the different cultures there.
